Not all wrinkles are created equal. If you are getting older, you have probably noticed that some of your deepest wrinkles tend to form on your forehead and between your eyebrows. These wrinkles, known as dynamic wrinkles, develop when underlying facial muscles contract. These signs of aging can be effectively treated using simple BOTOX® injections to reduce the activity of the muscles causing dynamic wrinkles.
What is BOTOX®?
BOTOX® is an injectable treatment that has been purified under the strictest of controlled conditions. This treatment has been approved for both cosmetic and medical uses. You can learn about how Dr. Emer performs this treatment by clicking here.

How Does It Work?
Dynamic wrinkles, sometimes known as motion wrinkles, are caused by the repetitive movements of your facial muscles. BOTOX® helps to block neurotransmitters used by the facial muscles to contract. Although nerves may continue to transmit contraction signals to the affected muscle, it will not receive this message. So the product works by temporarily relaxing the facial muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles like those found on the forehead, between the eyebrows and at the corners of the eyes.
You should know that the effects are temporary and will fade as the solution is metabolized by bodily enzymes and eliminated from your body. At this point, additional injections are required to maintain your results.
How Long Before My Injections Take Effect?
Although the results of BOTOX® injections are impressive, you should not expect immediate changes. It can take days for the full effects of the injections to be noticed; however, this varies from patient to patient. The differences are caused by the individuality of responses as your body begins reacting to the injections.
How Long Do the Results Last?
Every individual is different in how they respond to any treatment. Generally, BOTOX® injections last for multiple months at a time. Again, the results are not permanent because your body will eventually get rid of the injected solution, but the simplicity of these injections makes follow-up treatments very simple and convenient.
